Den VITA#10. "Lights / Kusama"

SEK 800.00

YAYOI KUSAMA. b. 1929.

”Lights”. Painter and writer with a life long fixation on dots. A work infused with autobiographical, psychological and sexual content. As a child, Kusama experienced vivid hallucinations and flowers speaking to her. This came to life in her paintings, a process she calls ”self-obliteration”.

”A polka-dot has the form of the sun, symbol of the energy of the whole world and our living life, and also the form of the moon, which is calm. Round, soft, colorful, senseless and unknowing. Polka-dots become movement ... Polka dots are a way to infinity.”

Repetition, lights in the dark and a way to stay sane.

Size: 16 x 16 cm

Den VITA project was to work on single, white, second hand objects and be inspired by women artists, crossing generations and artistic bransch. Some activists, some early pioneers, some simply demanding to be recognized for their work. But according to me, all feminists despite rejection of the term. Each object is one of a kind & handpainted!
